View Full Version : Confused on types of diabetics
I need some help again. I am getting confused about diabetic types. My friend had gestation diabetes when she was pregnant. Why did this happen?
What is the best way to always remember the differences between all the types of diabetes. I know but then I forget and get confused when there are other ones brought up.

Type 1 Diabetes
In type 1 diabetes, previously known as juvenile diabetes, the body’s immune system destroys insulin-producing cells in the pancreas.
Type 2 Diabetes
Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of diabetes accounting for 90%-95% of people with diabetes. It’s been seen more in children with diabetes too.

Diabetes develops due to a diminished production of insulin (in type 1) or resistance to its effects (in type 2 and gestational). All forms of diabetes have been treatable since insulin became medically available in 1921, but there is no cure.
