Hi
Do you have any resources for menu examples ideal for diabetics type 2.

What is the best thing to have for breakfast and is it okay to eat late at night do you think? My mate gets hungry late at night. In fact, he seems to be starving all the time.

I looked for examples too when I was first diagnosed with not much luck.
I eat lean meats such as chicken breast, turkey breast, salmon, tuna, lean beef, pork loin, etc.

All sorts of vegetables other than peas, carrots, and potatoes.

Tonight we're having fried cabbage, baby lima beans, salmon cakes, and I fixed a pot of cabbage soup which I love.

I always eat egg scramblers with a little cheddar cheese or spinach mixed in, and a homemade concoction that is similar to a veggie burger but has a little bit of hamburger added in, and a couple tomato slices washed down with a couple cups of black coffee.

Eating late at night is not good, for me anyway, tends to add weight and keeps me up during the night.

I used to have terrible carb cravings at night untill I cut them out pretty much.

Okay, thank you for the tips
This is incredibly enlightening.
My partner loves peas and carrots and I did not know these were on the not so good list.

We also need to cut out the vitamin k rich foods because we are trying to keep our clotting down. I know diabetics have clotting troubles already but we do need to keep ours down because we have heart condition requiring to keep blood thin.

Love the spinach and green leafs, but they are on our rare list.

I did some research for you. I hope this helps you out. This site has some good information, and some examples. http://www.med.umich.edu/1libr/aha/ummp2.htm

You have some excellent ideas here, Dusty! And I must admit that I'm sitting here feeling very hungry from having read your mail! Salmon is always a good choice for almost anyone.

Hi :)
the biggest thing that I have discovered in 3 years of type 2 diabetic is to TEST,TEST, TEST!
Try the foods you like and test to see if it helps or hinders your health.
For me, Anything "green" has been good for me and adding color around it makes a balanced meal.
I still eat fish/seafood and some turkey/chicken, very little pork or beef. ( It takes 72 hours to digest beef or pork!) Anything "fowl takes at least 8 to 12 hours."
If we eat according to how our food digests; we give our bodies time to "rest" when it should.
Just remember moderation in everything.
I've enjoyed alot of Dr. Joel Fuhrman's recipes for veggies out of his book "Eat To Live."
I've also found some awesome recipes from another forum called
tudiabetes.com.
If you just dig around the internet there are some gret resources for recipes both with veggies only and with whatever meats you like to eat.
Wish you peace on this diabetic journey.

Hi there,

I have some few tips for the problem. Light snacks at regular intervals should be taken to kill hunger and stay cool. Sometimes diet sodas help us a lot and biscuits are also more helpful. Some people prefer candies in emergencies and they keep with them all the time the stuff they like most.

Thanks
