So I was reading this article about a diabetic girl who got her nipples done and she had this gross infection.........

Somuch for kids talk.
I went through and researched alot about tattoos and piercings. And the age old taboo against them because your diabetic is just that age old.

the general consensus is: as longa syou are in good glyucemic control, your blodo sugars for one week prior to the event is excellent, you ahve plent yu fpo meds and are logical about it, your " wound" will heal nicely.

Do your homework on reputation and cleanlines sof the place of choice is the nmost critical.
If you need to talk it over with your doctor and find out what precautions or help is avialble if youget in a small preddicament, and consider what the piercing or tattoo will look like yars from when you do it and how it wil lok if you need to place apump or do an alternate site stick.

The reason I posted htis was so man of us have teenagers who want to do these things and they have diabetes but we often turn them away from self expression. MY only suggestiuons are keep the tatoo looking like it belongs on you, if you gof or peircing make sure its something that looks right> Somany kids go overboard. Use bactine ot clean and neosporin to moisten and keep it from being infected.
IU wa sreading abotu this football player who has amedic alter tatooed on him because he is atype 1, another has her abdominal port tatooed for proper placement, another has a beuatiful nose peircing and so on.
I always wanted a daisy on my hip.. I decided aginst it not because of of my diabetes but because i didntwant it to look like a weed when I gain and lose weight............

Hey, those are pretty nifty little temporary patches to put on your skin. I wonder if medical personal are trained to take these seriously?

I've heard of this! A Type 1 got a medic symbol and the word "diabetes" tattooed on his chest. He said he spoke with EMT's to figure out the best place. Makes sense, they will aways access your chest if unconscious or examining you. At least you never have to worry about losing your Medic Alert.

I wouldn't do it in case a cure is ever found. ;) I would HATE to see it day in day out as a nasty reminder.

I can't say getting a tattoo to mark a pump site is a good idea, since you have to rotate and change the site every 3 days, just like injection sites. You'd be covered with hundreds of marks!
