Has anyone seen the trailer for "Raw For 30 Days"? It's a documentary about six people, with diabetes as they attempt to reverse their diabetes through eating only raw food.
The trailer on Youtube at:

What does everyone think of this idea? Is it someone anyone here has tried before? I'm just getting into this whole raw food thing and I'd love to get some advice. Most people in my family eventually develop diabetes and I’d like to prevent myself of doing the same. Does eating an all raw diet work?

I've done a strict veggie diet with Dr. Joel Fuhrman and my numbers stay in total control. I lose it when I want to eat my comfort foods... ie bread, rice, pasta, anything that is a refined grain into flours to bake etc..
I've also been looking into going "raw" for the same reasons.
My main problem is a hubby and 6 kids that will not be doign it with me... so I doubt that I will ever make it to 100% raw. Still, eating more veggies/fiber etc will keep a totally better overall bloodsugar number and complications further away from us.

I have heard both good things and very bad things about raw foods.
The good news about raw foods diet is that it is healthy and can help people gain control over a lot of different diseases. But in truth I think that has more to do with really watching what you are eating and being very strict to not have anything that might be bad for you. It's just another strict diet.
One person I spoke to about raw foods said that with all the bad bacteria in the soil nowadays, that you can't be absolutely sure that your food was grown and picked and collected in the most clean way. A worker picking it could be sick and then eating the food raw can then make you sick.
I doubt that a raw food diet is for everyone, like you said, it's hard to never eat the foods that you grew up with that gives you pleasure. You need a diet that is flexible enough to permit you to be human every once in a while without losing your good blood sugar control because you "go off."
For me, a type 2 diabetic, I have found that just losing weight has helped me become flexible enough to permit me to live my life as I like without being either too strict or eating too many foods that aren't optimal for my health.
If you are comfortable with raw foods and you can keep on that diet for ever, then it's what you need. If you can't see yourself keeping on it for years, you might need another way to get in control. Keep looking!

I don't doubt that eating raw foods exclusively would have profound positive effects for any health problem. However for me, it would require a great deal of discipline. I am eating much healthier now than 10 years ago, but I still have quite a ways to go in giving up "comfort foods" like cookies and candy. I currently do not have diabetes, but it runs in my family. I'm trying now to beat the odds by eating some type of raw fruit and vegetable everyday. Something is better than doing nothing :).

eating raw foods helps maintain our body to be healthy, it has better quality, therefore you tend to eat less to satisfy your nutritional needs. having diabetes needs balance diet means that for me its a good choice to eat raw foods,
