Okay, we have the information that cinnamon helps in lowering blood glucose levels by 20%.
What about fenugreek? Some people say that taking soaked fenugreek seeds helps in reducing blood sugar count? How far is it true?

fenugreek shoudl not be used by pregnant women. Theherb has definite interactions with warfarins and aspirin.
Fenugreek hasn't actually been shown to reduce or improve glucose metabolisim. Some peopel though claim it does.
I for one stay away from herbals. As a compounder.. I just dont see it as a benefit other than psychological.

I believe that both chemical compounds and natural sources are helpful. Because natural sources like cinnamon and fenugreek are nothing but chemical compounds in the final analysis.
And is it not true that Hippocrates said that - Let thy food be thy medicine.
Ladygirl, the URL is useful. It supports that fenugreek does help in reducing blood glucose levels. Thanks for the info.
As jimmy's devoted says people who can have complications by taking fenugreek should not take it. But for people like me let's take the best of the modern medicine and the traditional one to make the most of these.:)

I ahve been involved and conducted a few clinical studies and studied herbal medicine for many years. While sme people may disagreew ith that and support the use of herbals, teh precaution athat herbals have in a population reactions is founded.
As a healthcare professional I am just looking out for fad ideas and not debunking them but erringon caution when people start looking towards supports of medicinals with herbals.
Oh and you had better check up on your Hippocrates...........
--"Hippocrates recommended 2,500 years ago, "Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food."
Some of us had to study Ascephalus and Hippocrates
Thank you. I do not know what fenugreek is. I will research this further and see if this is a good one to put in to our diets. If it has a blood thinning quality then it may work well along side our ginger supplement in keeping us off of too many aspirins and warfarin.

I believe fenugreek has been shown to help lower both cholesterol and blood sugar levels. The studies thus far on fenugreek have been pretty good, although not necessarily exhaustive. But it is definitely worth trying for someone having difficulty keeping their blood sugars and/or cholesterol in check.

Hi there,
Its really a good news to listen about fenugreek which controls blood sugar and cholesterol. If medicine is developed using fenugreek, then it would be nice. Out of web research I found that fenugreek is a plant which is used as both herb (the leaves) and as a spice (the seed). It is cultivated worldwide and India is the major producing country of fenugreek plant. There are many health benefits of fenugreek, and they are given in the link HERE. Thanks
