I take care of my husband who is diabetic. He is unable to care for himself since a heart attack 2 years ago. He has been having problems with his hands and feet being very cold. It was very noticable this morning. I checked his sugar and it was 86. I had given him his normal dose of insulin last night, but he didn't eat anything afterward. The sheets were all wet from sweat. He's had this drop before, much more extreme down to 39 and he was hospitalized, when I first started taking care of him. Needless to say, I'm much more careful.

Could the drop in sugar be related to the cold feet and hands?

I'm concerned, mainly because he doesn't always tell me what's wrong.

Any suggestions on how to help him with his circulation?

Hi Kathy,

There is a product called the Jeanie rub foot and leg massager it was developed by a registered nurse and helps with circulation and fatigue, it is worth checking out, massage is always good for circulation.
Good Luck
Here is the web address http://specialneed.890m.com/daily/

P.S. just cut and paste Jeanie rub foot and leg massager in the search bar at the website and you will find it.
Good Luck

Does he wear the leg stockings? I know my father would wear them because his legs would swell up almost triple the size of a normal leg--but it was also suppose to help blood circulation as well.

Choice in shoes can help in the foot circulation. You should buy the correct shoes.

There are some foot exercises which are specifically used in this cases. It is better to consult a physiotherapist about the exercise procedures.

There is a website that I thought you might want to read. It is about people with diabetes and their feet. It is called foot.com

The website gives some helpful tips on how to take care of your feet. :)

I hope this helps a bit.
