My sister recently started on the OmniPod and has had nothing but problems with it. I, too, am starting on it (not realizing she'd been having so many problems). So far, in two months, she's had three faulty pods and her PDM had to be returned after it failed. Are these problems common or is she just a one-off?
If these problems are occurring regularly for other people as well, I'd like to return mine and go with something else!

Hi Kenzie,
I've been trying to get a lot of information regarding the omni-pod. I hope that more people respond to your comment, because I also would like to know a little more information.

I'll let you know if I hear anything else, how about that?
Sorry to hear abut your troubles with the OmniPod.
My son is 11, and has had the omnipod for around 5 months now (I think-my memory's not so good), and it has been wonderful.
The positives:
-independence, freedom
-fairly durable-he plays soccer and full-contact football with the pod on (he wears a longer Nike wristband over it to protect it)
-the precise amounts of insulin delivery-no guesswork
The negatives:
-we did have the PDM error out on us, but Customer service was very helpful, and all it took was resetting it with a paperclip by the batteries.
-had a couple of pods error out-a bummer when it is a fairly new pod with 100+ units of insulin in it
Otherwise, nothing negative to say.
We just had to replace it, due to it getting kicked (inside a backpack in the locker room). Again, customer service was great, and overnighted one to us.
He wears it on the back of his upper arm, and likes it there.
He went to the Dr. last week, and his monthly average was around 110,and his A1C was 6.0!! He has been diabetic since 1.5 years old-the nurse was literally in tears. :)
Anyway, I am sorry if anyone has had a bad experience with the OmniPod, but we love it!
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your feedback!
I went on the OmniPod about 2 months ago and I've had great luck with it so far. I did have my PDM go out the first time I changed the batteries (it shorted out) and I had one pod start alarming after filling it with insulin, but other than that, no problems. I think we've concluded that my sister must have had a bad box of pods or something.
I'm glad your son is doing so well with it. I hope I can join him in that 6 range soon! (Although I have a long way to come down before I get there.) I wish him the best of luck!

Hey everyone, i know this post is a little old but i wanted to jump in...I've been on the Omnipod since August and I love it. I have had a few pods go out on me and a few weird things happen but overall no major problems.
My PDM has not malfunctioned at all and my only major issues are placement and size of the pod. When i place it on my arm i sometimes catch it on things...like doorways..lol...and sometimes people give me a little "lovetap" on the arm...which is then followed by either a SORRY!!, "what is that?" or "you need to tell me where you move it to!!!". It's all good though, I would never go back to giving myself injections. I'm almost 31 and gave myself injections for 17 years...I'm all set with it.
Good news is that I met with my diabetes educator last week and she said that Omnipod is working on making them thinner...We'll see!!
That's good to hear, spd. One thing tha we do that you may want to try is buy a longer sweatband (they make some 1.5 to 2 times longer than normal ones), and see if you can pull it over your arm and the pod. Another idea would be a smaller sleeve, found in the knee/arm/elbow brace section of the pharmacy.
We were told the same thing, that they are developing a slimmer pod. That would be nice!
