welcome to this site. I am fairly new here as well.
I was diagnosed with t2 end of June. It was a struggle at first but I have now accepted the fact that I have diabetes and I am not going to let it run my life. I have lost 15 pounds so far and I have been going to the gym 5 days a week. I just started kicking it up a notch at the gym and for the past 5 dyas my morning BG levels have been between 87 - 100 and my pre dinner BG has been between 84-107. So it does show that excercising does help. I am on 1200 calories a day.
Hope this gives you some inspiration

How are you doing so far? Are you on pills or insulin?

 i am on my 3rd month of knowing I have diabetes. I may have had the disease for at least a year before my diagnosis. I have lost 25 pounds. I had received the results from the curve test, and since it was done when i was first diagnosed, I did not do well. My doctor did another test at the beginning of October, and my results were much better. I do not have to increase my meds for now, which is great. I am having problems with my sugar dropping down to 84. This occured when I had eaten pasta, before i took my meds!!! I would not be so concerned except it has happened 3 times in one week. I am taking Janumet. My original plls came from the doctor himself. The new pills came from the pharmacy, and i am not sure if they are different. When my sugar drops low, I start getting a headache. The pain gets worse as my sugar drops lower. I take bayer asprins, and i have a piece of chocolate and that has helped me. Since I am an orange juiceaholic (lol), I cant keep OJ in my fridge. WHen my sugar becomes low, my best friend suggested i buy the molds to make orange juice pops. This is a great idea, and I think I can handle that the best.
honestly I find this a challange. What I find most disturbing is my oldest sister.[ She was diagnosed with diabetes a while ago. Within the past 2 years she had a heart attack, and she told me she isnt taking meds, or watching what she eats. what the freak??? Her doctors answer is for her to have bypass surgery to lose weight! She had lost 50lbs almost 3 years ago, and now her doctor suggests surgery. Will that stop her from wanting to eat too much? Will having the surgery help her health wise? What the freak is that about? granted she is 12 years old then me, has 3 kids, and an alchoholic husband. What I dont understand is why the hell wouldnt you take better care of yourself? When i first found out I was diabetic, I read everything I could on the disease. The disease does lead to heart attacks.
i am looking for new friends, and I welcome you as my new friend. I am from long island, i am 43, single and no kids. what about you?
