Hi: I'm new here but have been a diabetic for about ten years. My numbers have never been very good on oral meds so the doctor has been agitating to use insulin or Byetta. I have always had a needle phobia. I can't give myself a shot, no matter how hard I try. Fortunately, my wife is an RN. I started on Lantus last week but even the tiny needle on the pen was just too much. Out of desparation, I found a needle-less injection system. I had called the same company before but been told that the system would not work with Lantus. Bunk. I finally got to someone who really knew what was going on and it works great with Lantus. It is pain free except for the discomfort of the Lantus "sting." The downside is that my insurance won't cover the device ($189) or the disposable parts ($15 per mo.). For anyone with trouble with injections, I highly recommend a needle free system.

I'm glad that you have found something that works for you, but the expenses must be m***ive.
Have you thought of using the pump? There is a needle, but not a few times a day. And you have your wife there to help you.
I've heard a lot of great things about it and most insurance companies cover it.
Think about it. It might help.

I love my pump but I'm glad you found something that works for you and that you can afford.
I hope your blood sugars will be much much better now that you are on the lantus.

In cases wherein needles are not one of the options, oral hypoglycemics can be used as a replacement.

I keep seeing this new TV ad that talks about this device for reading sugar levels and such, and it is with no needle.
have any of you seen that ad yet?

Hi there,
Its a good news for many and including myself. My parents are diabetic and I will let them know about it. They are finding it difficult on everyday basis to go for shots and they are very eager to avoid needles. Thanks for the info.
Thanks.
