M<any meters have a high error factor.
IN many cases theer have been errors with accicheck produts, continually reading higher than they should ,leading to some who are on insulin to take more insulin than needed.

Some read low and give a false sense of low BGs.

To prevent erros always have at least two units. If you suspect that your BG is reading high then you have a few choices. Get an inexpensive one and double check. That was how we found out that acuhecks were reading high. Compared ot five other units in my posession, Accucheck read high even after taking insulin.
All four read within 5 to 10 points of each other,w tih three reading wihtin 3 points.

These three i use to make sure of BGs when I feel strange.

Also check against the LAB work, not the offices unit.
LAb work will let you know how far off for that day you reading was.

The precision Xtra is replacing the QID.
Xtra is as accurate as can be. I put it up there with the Freestyle products as being top notch, lab compatible.
Precision Xtra is great for hiking, travel and simple to use.
Little itty bitty drop of blood is drawn into the vial like strip. YOu can fill from top or side. Use it on access areas.
I love it because its so handy. The tsrips are foiled so if they get wet they dont spill or get ruined.
The case is also great as its a wallet! so one piece is a wallet, meter, checkbook, log book holder.

It has a back light so you can see to do a test in the dark. I have yet to figure out the testing alarm....
Its always also on target wiht my lab results. Its plasma testing through electrophoresis.

I began with my first plasma as a freestyle. It doesnt \ do to well in extreme heat or extreme cold.
Its very very accurate, within two points ofrm my lab results.
It also cracks easily. the case can be dropped but it will chip or crack. Its a great dsk mate type, kleep it in the desk or purse.
I took it hiking. Problem was teh vial. I was afraid that I was going to spill the strips.
But it worked all along the trail.

I suggest this one for those who want a great accurate PLasma unit and has a fairly steady lifestyle.

I LOOOOOOOVE this meter. Its whole blood but rules out a host of things. Like high Iron, vitamin C, etc.
Ok so it does take a lot of blood, but its fantastic at making sure your on track!
I am not sure they are making this one anymore, but if you find one SNAG it. Its a desk kit but its so worth it.

I just started testing a few weeks ago and I have noticed that all of a sudden my numbers shot up when I tested with my accu-chek advantage. I have two ascensia contour meters and they both are within 5 points of each other and a good 30 points below the accu-chek.

Sounds like it's time to contact the good folks at Roche diagnostics.

why not get afree one and try it. I got alink for a new One touch. Just go to the one touch site, and sign up for a newsltter and they will send you a brand panking new one touch meter. Also sign up at Dlife for a new contour. Thats hwo I get most of mine. I either upgrade or get the free ones to try.

When I get anew meter, I always check it againt my Freestyle and Profile, If they come close to those or are on target I stick with them. so far my profile, freestyle, Xtra and contour read either on target with each other or about a two point different onavarage. so Iknow I am on target!

I am really getting aggravated about errors. The strips are quite expensive in a lump sum purchase. Yeah they last a while but still they have a hight waste rate :(
