I was reading about the protein in urine and how before it comes down to dialysis for your kidneys that it is best to lower the protein intake. After you begin a dialysis routine though, you will need to increase protein. Very confusing. If they pump it out of you then why put it back?

protein is used for repair of cells and for energy conversion. If you loose it through dialysis the free floating protein molecules are removed,, so you have to replace some of it.
its like loosing iron as well through phlebotomy. still gotta have some of it.

Thats very true, It seems like extra work but its something that needs to be done for dialysis to work properly. But regardless your body will always need protein.
