I have read that there are free foods that don't count for any calories and fat in a healthy person. What about when you are diabetic, is this the same?

For instance, celery is one of the free foods, and this is going to sound silly but recently I have lost my taste preference for celery after working in a delicatessan that had fresh salads being made daily and fresh celery being chopped constantly.

What are some free foods we can munch on and also create a meal out of. I am on a low vitamin K diet so I am not allowed much brocolli and Kale leaves, and I love eating them and crave them all the time.

So, there's celery... and what else?

Thanks for the url... that's a good list to have. Only one thing on it really surprised me... I always considered soy sauce to be nothing much more than way too much sodium. Why do you think it made the list of healthy things to eat?

Well anything at all can have negative effects, even water. But when it is something like you sure have to take a whole lot of it to do yourself any harm. Given that celery is really just water wth a few chewy bits, you are pretty safe. Being diabetic doesn't have much effect one that ;)

I go by the ADA carb counting guide.
But I modify with the stages 2/3 South Beach diet. Lost of fiber and proteins.

Most f teh foods that I stick with are liquids to fill up. I found that if you have broth, or some soup though it has some calorie it may be preventative in further eating. A few calories now may prevent binginglater on " low carb, low calorie foods" thatw ill eventually add up.
If your hungy and munching on celery those sticks add upa nd may not sait.
Dr. bernstein suggested that if youeat something to sait you prevent over eating and continual mnching.

It works.. except on PMS days.........
