It seems that chewing gum is a good method of drug delivery. Generex Biotechnology collaborates with medicinal chewing gum developer Fertin Pharma A/S to develop a chewing gum containing metformin, a generic drug used for the treatment of Type-2 diabetes mellitus and obesity.

Generex Biotechnology collaborates with medicinal chewing gum developer Fertin Pharma A/S to develop a chewing gum containing metformin, a generic drug used for the treatment of Type-2 diabetes mellitus and obesity. The collaboration will seek to combine Generex's proprietary buccal drug delivery platform technologies with Fertin's know-how related to gum base formulations, and taste masking/modification to create a metformin medicinal chewing gum that will deliver metformin into the body via the buccal mucosa. (the inner lining of the mouth) rather than in its current tablet form. The developers hope that this method of delivery will circumvent adverse side effects associated with taking metformin in tablet form such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, abdominal bloating, and increased gas production.

On November 16, 2006 Generex corp was given the patent rights to produce it.
I fyou need to you will ahve to call Generex which is a Canadian company to find out when avaialbility will be here.
I supose since it will be available in canadian pharmacies with a RX you may be able ot get it through an online pharmacy wiht a valid RX for it.
they dont say what flavor its in though which has me a bit leary. I mean a yucky gum taste will be awful but a nice mnt or fruit flavor( like the old trident or old juicy fruit) will enhance the use dont you think...........


Diabetes Mellitus /Diabetes Insipidus

Diabetes is actual a single word with a definition of: to pass through.

So diabetes is areally amisnomer for " sugar" problems.
Both diabetes have the same symptoms, Both have elevated thirst, frequent urination failiure to heal etc.

But the difference is in the mellitus which is really the matching meaning of glucose or "sugar" impairment and insipidus for kidneys.

Ok and I was also readin there is a .... ahem a Vaginal cream metformin being worked on. For women who cant swallow.... DONT LAUGH........

This product still not available here. Have been looking around for more information. Doc says he is still checking on this for his own opinion. I would like to know how it tastes also.
